Why is Writing important for an EFL teacher?

Writing is one of the skills that is important for learning a new language.
Teach this subject is significant because it can help to the student to improve english and to gain an insight into english language too.
Mandy Yates says in her article that for teaching writing to children: "Lucy Calkins suggests that for primary age students, it's easiest to start with small moments, or things that have happened to them, such as: a trip to grandma's, or the bumpy bus ride home, or catching fireflies in the evening."( How to teach authentic writing from the start, Mar 8, 2008)
It is a good a idea for children to start with short stories about their lifes, true stories. Things that they just need to tell not invent or think to much about them.
I think it is important for the student to feel comfortable about what they are writing specially when they are starting, so write about their own experiences at the beginning will be very helpful.
